St. Martin’s to Host North American Reggio Emilia Alliance Winter Conference

January 21st, 2026

St. Martin’s Episcopal School is honored to serve as the host site for the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) Winter Conference, welcoming educators from across the country to campus this winter for meaningful dialogue and professional learning centered on early childhood education.

The Reggio Emilia approach, recognized worldwide for its emphasis on child-centered learning, relationships, and curiosity-driven exploration, aligns closely with the philosophy that guides teaching and learning at St. Martin’s. Hosting this conference reflects the school’s long-standing commitment to thoughtful, research-informed education beginning in the earliest years.

“At St. Martin’s, we believe early childhood is not simply a preparation for what comes next, but a critical and formative stage of learning in its own right,” said Director of Early Childhood Megan Morales. “We are honored to welcome fellow educators from across North America to our campus to engage in conversations about how children learn best and how schools can support their growth with intention and care.”

Throughout the conference, participants will engage in collaborative sessions focused on observation, documentation, environment, and the role of relationships in learning, all core elements of the Reggio Emilia philosophy and foundational practices within George Cottage, St. Martin’s Early Childhood program.

For St. Martin’s families, the conference serves as a meaningful reflection of the work already happening in classrooms every day. Here, students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, collaborate with peers, and explore their world with curiosity and confidence, guided by educators who view children as capable, thoughtful learners.

Hosting the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance Winter Conference underscores St. Martin’s role as a leader in early childhood education and affirms its commitment to nurturing the whole child through intentional, values-driven teaching.

As the school continues to invest in academic excellence, faculty development, and innovative learning environments, this moment represents both a point of pride and a continuation of St. Martin’s mission to educate with purpose, care, and vision.
