Martin de Tours Award

We invite you to nominate exceptional individuals for the Martin de Tours Award, the most prestigious alumni award at our school. Named after the patron saint of our school, this award recognizes individuals who embody our values of faith, scholarship, and service.

The Martin de Tours Award is given annually to an exemplary living graduate who has consistently served their community and demonstrated a commitment to the highest standards in their chosen field of endeavor. We encourage you to nominate those who have made a positive impact in their community and have demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership and service.

Help us honor the legacy of Martin de Tours, and of previous recipients, by nominating deserving individuals for this prestigious award. To submit your nomination of a St. Martin’s graduate whom you believe would make a strong candidate, complete this nomination form and submit it to the Alumni Office via email at [email protected]. Nominations are collected on a rolling basis, but for a candidate to be considered for a specific school year, their nomination must be submitted by September 1 of that year.

The patron saint of our school, Saint Martin de Tours, is best known for his ability to find God in the simple joys of life. There is a well-known story in which Martin met a shivering beggar at the gates of the city of Amiens in Gaul. Moved with compassion, he divided his coat into two parts and gave one to the poor man. Martin de Tours exemplified the aspect of service that we value so highly at St. Martin’s Episcopal School.

Dorothy Porter Service Award

The Dorothy Porter Service Award (DPSA) was established in honor of one of St. Martin’s most cherished figures—Mrs. Dorothy Porter, a devoted educator and pillar of the school community from its earliest days. Her influence spanned decades, beginning with the school’s founding and continuing well beyond her retirement in 1988. Even in retirement, Mrs. Porter remained a guiding presence, exemplifying grace, loyalty, and a profound love for St. Martin’s history and mission.

This award stands as a lasting tribute to Mrs. Porter’s unwavering spirit and lifelong service. It is presented annually to a living member of the St. Martin’s community who embodies her legacy - someone who has selflessly given their time, talent, and resources in service to the school. Recipients of the Dorothy Porter Service Award are individuals who personify the core values at the heart of St. Martin’s: Faith, Scholarship, and Service.
