St. Martin’s Once Again Serves as a Host School for the Civil Discourse Speaker Series

March 3rd, 2026

St. Martin’s Episcopal School is proud to announce its continued participation in the 2026 Civil Discourse Speaker Series. This year’s event, “The Declaration at 250: The Moral Ideas That Formed a Nation,” invites the community to reflect on the philosophical foundations of our country.

Event Highlights

The evening features an exclusive dialogue between two distinguished leaders in contemporary thought:

  • Walter Isaacson: Renowned author and historian, discussing his latest work, The Greatest Sentence Ever Written.

  • Jay Lapeyre: Co-founder of The Free Society Coalition and co-author of the Happy Birthday Freedom! brochure.

Together, they will explore the founding principles and moral ideals that shaped human history. The discussion aims to bridge the past and present, considering how these enduring values can inspire a renewed commitment to independent thought, civil discourse, and a shared national purpose.

St. Martin’s Student Engagement

In alignment with our mission to foster critical thinking, St. Martin’s Upper School students will engage deeply with these themes during a special campus assembly. This session will feature a Socratic seminar composed of three students and three faculty members, demonstrating the power of respectful, inquiry-based dialogue in action.
