Sophomores Explore Tulane and Loyola Campuses

March 3rd, 2026

Sophomores Explore Tulane and Loyola Campuses

Today, St. Martin’s sophomores stepped out of the classroom and onto the campuses of Tulane University and Loyola University New Orleans for an immersive look at the next chapter of their education. This intentional sophomore year experience allows our students to build the confidence and critical thinking skills they need to navigate their futures well in advance of graduation.

Training for the College Search

The day started with an intensive seminar led by Director of College Counseling and Academic Dean Tiffany DuSaules. The session was designed to transform a standard campus tour into a focused fact-finding mission.

The curriculum for the morning included:

  • Strategies for evaluating campus culture beyond marketing materials
  • Identifying specific questions to uncover the true student experience
  • Maximizing campus time to assess academic resources and support services

Following the seminar, students toured both Tulane and Loyola to experience the differing environments of a Tier 1 research university and a premier Jesuit university. These site visits allowed students to explore academic buildings, collaborative student spaces, and the distinct campus culture of each institution.

Alumni Mentorship and Perspective

A primary component of the trip involved reconnecting with the St. Martin’s community. Several St. Martin’s alumni met with the sophomores to offer a real-world perspective on the transition from high school to university life. The school extends its thanks to the following alumni for their time: Farah Wells ’19, Ella Bozeman ’25, Colin Richard ’24, Will Pejic ’25, and Oli Lyons ’25.

Observing our graduates thrive at top-tier universities is a testament to the academic foundation they receive at St. Martin’s. Their continued success demonstrates that our students do not just gain college acceptance; they arrive on campus fully prepared to lead and excel.

By integrating St. Martin’s college counseling resources and alumni connections early in the high school career, St. Martin’s ensures that every student is equipped with the maturity and insight to choose a path that aligns with their highest aspirations. This visit is just one step in a comprehensive four-year process that prepares students not only for the rigors of higher education but for the complexities of life beyond our campus.
