AI Summer Intensive 2026: Designing Generative AI Projects for Social Good
Led by InSpirit AI in St. Martin’s Gibbs Family Center for Innovation + Design, this summer program invites rising 9th-12th grade students to explore the latest generative AI tools and design an original project from scratch to address a social problem they care about.
- No programming or computer science background is required.
- Taught by Stanford University graduate students, runs June 15 - 26, 2026 from 1:00-4:30 (exception: June 19 holiday).
- Total cost is $1400.00.
Successful completion by qualifying students may satisfy the summer program requirement for St. Martin’s STeaM or Global Citizenship Signature Diplomas.
Participants will learn to leverage vibe coding skills to make a real-world impact. Student-driven projects are designed to create measurable social impact across disciplines, such as healthcare and mental health, economics and financial inclusion, engineering, environmental sustainability, and education.
Students are guided step-by-step through powerful no-code AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Lovable, and Cursor, along with hands-on exposure to modern Large Language Models, AI agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and context engineering.
Participants then move from idea to launch, using vibe coding skills, to define their project’s purpose, target users, and measurable impact. Students learn how to pitch their projects, assess market fit, and position their work for competitions, research fairs, and college portfolios.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, students will have:
- Developed practical generative AI and “vibe coding” skills.
- A stronger understanding of AI’s promises and ethical challenges.
- Built and launched a socially impactful AI prototype.
- Gained experience in communicating their product’s vision.
- Identified pathways to position their work beyond this program.
