St. Martin’s Day Brings the School Together in Faith and Fun

November 14th, 2025

On Friday, November 14, the St. Martin’s Episcopal School community came together for a beloved tradition: St. Martin’s Day, a celebration honoring the life and legacy of St. Martin of Tours. The day was filled with gratitude, service, and schoolwide camaraderie in honor of our namesake’s commitment to kindness, humility, and community.

St. Martin’s Day has been one of our school’s favorite traditions for nearly 70 years. From starting the day with an all-school chapel to buddies working together on a scavenger hunt to divisional games to lunch together, it’s no surprise that it’s many Saints’ favorite tradition. Congratulations to the Schwartz Family on winning the scavenger hunt for the second time in three years!

The celebration began with a schoolwide chapel service in the Dan and Frances White Chapel, where Senior Aidan Molaison ’26 delivered a heartfelt chapel talk reflecting on the day’s significance. Sharing his personal connection to the tradition, Aidan reminded all in attendance of the importance of service and the strength of the St. Martin’s community.

Following chapel, students, faculty, and staff spread out across campus for a lively St. Martin’s Day scavenger hunt, which took place in mixed-grade “St. Martin’s Families.” For the second time in three years, the Schwartz Family claimed the victory, earning bragging rights and big cheers from their fellow Saints.

Some of our youngest members of our community also played a special role. George Cottage Threes students served lemonade to scavenger hunt participants, adding a sweet and joyful touch to the morning’s festivities.

Throughout the day, students in Lower, Middle, and Upper School enjoyed divisional games and activities designed to strengthen bonds and celebrate all that makes our campus special. The celebration culminated in a shared lunch with Big and Little Saints, where buddies of all ages gathered to enjoy time together and make lasting memories.

In keeping with the day’s theme of service, the entire school took part in a schoolwide service project, writing thoughtful letters to service men and women stationed overseas. These letters were blessed in the chapel, carrying the love and gratitude of our community out into the world.

From its joyful traditions to its heartfelt moments, St. Martin’s Day continues to be a powerful reminder of the values we share: Faith, Scholarship, and Service, united in the spirit of St. Martin de Tours.
