Middle School Swimming Has Strong Showing at NOAL Championship

Congratulations to our Middle School Swim Team on a strong showing at the NOAL Championship meet!
In the boys’ division, Dennis Cali ’30 finished 1st overall in both the 50 Freestyle (26.69) and 50 Breaststroke (34.23). Griffin Jacobsen ’30 placed 2nd in both the 50 Free (28.59) and 50 Backstroke (33.01). The boys’ 200 Medley Relay team of Griffin Jacobsen ’30, Dennis Cali ’30, Ruston Gills ’33, and Omar Hijazi ’30 finished 3rd (2:15.46), while the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Griffin, Dennis, Omar, and Karim Hijazi ’30 earned 2nd (2:01.45).
Among 73 boys, Ruston Gills ’33 placed 7th in the 50 Free (31.27) and 6th in the 50 Back (39.69)—the top times of any 5th grader. Gracen Irwin ’33 swam the 7th fastest 5th-grade 50 Free (43.93), David Truesdale ’31 the 8th fastest 7th-grade 50 Back (53.61), and Leo Bernard ’33 the 4th fastest 5th-grade 50 Breast (57.98). The 200 Free Relay team of Arkalas Robinson ’32, David, Ruston, and Gracen placed 13th (2:44.89).
Personal bests were achieved by Dennis Cali ’30, Griffin Jacobsen ’30, Omar Hijazi ’30, Karim Hijazi ’30, David Truesdale ’31, Arkalas Robinson ’32, Leo Bernard ’33, Gracen Irwin ’33, and Alex Sclearuc ’33.
In the girls’ division, Annika Rouse ’32 placed 3rd overall in the 50 Butterfly (31.70), 7th overall in the 100 IM (1:23.23 – 4th fastest 6th grade), and 4th overall in the 100 Free (1:15.85 – 2nd fastest 6th grade). Jillian Jee ’32 swam the 5th fastest 6th-grade 50 Free (37.31), while Neva Silva ’31 recorded the 6th fastest 7th-grade 50 Free (37.90) and 3rd fastest 7th-grade 100 Free (1:33.56). Sadie Ruffin ’33 placed 12th overall in the 50 Back (3rd fastest 5th grade). In the 50 Breast, Jillian was 4th among 6th graders, Neva 5th among 7th, and Emma Dunn ’33 6th among 5th (1:05.03).
The girls’ 200 Free Relay of Sadie, Neva, Jillian, and Annika placed 9th overall (2:39.61). Personal bests were achieved by Annika Rouse ’32, Neva Silva ’31, and Emma Dunn ’33.
