Kindergarteners Become Human Thermometers
March 6th, 2026
Lower School science teacher Mrs. Pam Brierre took kindergarteners on a special mission today: to become “human thermometers!” By ditching their shoes and stepping onto the playground, these young scientists got a first-hand (or first-foot!) lesson in heat absorption.
Mrs. Brierre guided the class as they compared the warmth of the courtyard bricks to the coolness of the shaded surfaces. It’s one thing to talk about how dark colors soak up the sun, but it’s another thing entirely to feel it under your toes! 🌡️✨
The Verdict:
• Courtyard bricks in the sun: “Super Warm!” 🔥
• Bricks in the shade: “Cooler!” ☀️
• Grass: “Cold and a little prickly!” 🍃
