Honoring Legacy and Connection: The “Oldies but Goodies” Return to St. Martin’s

December 15th, 2025

Each year, St. Martin’s Episcopal School has the joy of welcoming back a group affectionately known as the “oldies but goodies,” and once again, the Van Slate House was filled with familiar faces, shared memories, and deep affection for the school that shaped so many lives.

More than 40 former faculty members, administrators, parents, and alumni returned to campus for their annual luncheon reunion, gathering not simply to reminisce, but to reconnect with one another and with the enduring spirit of St. Martin’s. This cherished tradition offers an opportunity to honor those who helped build the foundation of the school and whose influence continues to be felt across campus.

The conversations that filled the room reflected decades of dedication, service, and love for St. Martin’s. Stories were shared, laughter echoed, and friendships that span generations were renewed. Together, this group embodies the heart and history of the school, reminding all who gather with them that St. Martin’s is defined as much by its people as by its programs.

St. Martin’s was honored to once again serve as the gathering place for this meaningful reunion. The continued strength of the group is due in large part to the care and commitment of Margaret Perret Budde, whose leadership has helped keep these connections vibrant year after year. Her dedication to bringing people together ensures that the bonds formed through St. Martin’s remain active, personal, and deeply rooted. Budde is also the 2024-25 recipient of the Dorothy Porter Service Award.

As St. Martin’s looks toward the future, moments like these offer a powerful reminder of where the school has been and who helped shape its journey. The legacy carried by this remarkable group lives on in the values, traditions, and sense of belonging that define the St. Martin’s experience today.
