Students Lead Service-Learning Project to Support Angels’ Place

November 10th, 2025

St. Martin’s 8th and 12th grade students are putting compassion into action through a meaningful Service Learning partnership with Angels’ Place, an organization that provides ongoing support to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

As part of their yearlong focus on service, leadership, and community impact, Middle and Upper School students collaborated to create an awareness video encouraging donations for the organization’s most pressing needs. Their goal: to make life a little brighter for families navigating challenging circumstances.

A Service Project Rooted in Empathy

Angels’ Place offers vital support to families facing chronic or life-threatening childhood illness—needs that can often create financial hardship and emotional strain. Through this service initiative, St. Martin’s students are learning how small acts of kindness can create meaningful change.

Students researched the organization, identified items that directly benefit the children and their families, and worked together to plan a donation drive that focuses on both practicality and joy.

How You Can Help

Guided by Angels’ Place and their Advisory faculty leaders, students are collecting items that bring comfort, creativity, and play into children’s daily routines:

  • Games
  • Puzzles
  • Body spray
  • Socks
  • Art kits
  • Athletic equipment + sports balls
  • (Please note: Angels’ Place requests no books at this time.)

Families, students, and alumni are invited to participate in the Angels’ Place collection. Donations may be dropped off through Friday, November 17.

Together, we can help bring comfort, joy, and support to children and families who need it most.

Leadership in Action

This service-learning project is part of St. Martin’s commitment to developing students who lead with empathy, responsibility, and purpose. By giving students ownership—researching needs, organizing the drive, and creating a video to raise awareness—teachers help them see firsthand how their efforts can support real families in the Greater New Orleans community.

The 8th and 12th grade students hope their video will inspire even more members of the St. Martin’s community to join in and contribute.
