StM Football Players Join New Orleans Saints and Ochsner for High School Football Media Day

September 5th, 2025

St. Martin’s Episcopal School student-athletes had the chance to kick off the season in a big way. On September 4, five StM football players joined athletes from eight other metro area high schools at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center for the first-ever High School Football Media Day, hosted in partnership with the Ochsner Andrews Sports Medicine Institute.

Representing St. Martin’s at the event were: Kain Oddo ’26, Tyler Penny ’26, Donny Lawrence ’26, Destin Brooks ’27, and Gabe Savarese ’27.

The day was designed to celebrate student-athletes and highlight the excitement of a new season. Players participated in professional-style interviews and photo sessions and heard directly from New Orleans Saints legend Devery Henderson, who shared stories from his journey from Opelousas High School to LSU to a Super Bowl championship with the Saints.

“Everything in life is a learning experience,” Henderson reminded the athletes. “The negative, the positive things, they are all learning experiences—everything you go through.”

For St. Martin’s players, the experience was both inspiring and energizing as they prepare to put their hard work to the test this season. The event was not only a celebration of football but also of the opportunities, growth, and life lessons the game provides—values that align closely with St. Martin’s focus on developing character, leadership, and resilience in every student.
