Schoolwide Food Drive Supporting St. Anna’s Episcopal Church Begins November 17
November 17th, 2025
St. Martin’s is proud to announce the launch of this year’s schoolwide Service-Learning Food Drive, led by our 9th and 11th grade students. Rooted in our commitment to Faith, Scholarship, and Service, this yearlong project focuses on addressing food insecurity through education, empathy, and action.
From November 17 through December 8, students across all divisions—from George Cottage to Upper School—will participate in a coordinated effort to collect and donate essential food and household items to St. Anna’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry. Located in New Orleans, St. Anna’s operates a vital food bank that serves individuals and families experiencing hardship, and we are honored to support their work again this year.
As part of their service-learning curriculum, students in 9th and 11th grades have spent the first semester researching food insecurity. Their research has informed a thoughtful and intentional approach to this drive, ensuring every item collected directly meets a need.
Requested Items:
In collaboration with St. Anna’s food pantry leadership, we will be accepting only the following items:
- Rice
- Dried Beans
- Peanut Butter
- Jelly
- Boxed Mac ‘n’ Cheese
- Canned Tuna & Chicken
- Canned Fruits & Vegetables
- Canned Red Beans
- Pasta
- Red Pasta Sauce
- Laundry Detergent
- Walmart Gift Cards
St. Anna's food pantry has specifically requested these items to ensure consistency and meet the needs of the families they serve.
How You Can Help:
- Send donations to school with your child anytime between November 17 and December 8
- Look for collection bins in George Cottage, Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School
- On Fridays, students will visit classrooms to pick up donations directly
- Gift cards (Walmart preferred) should be given to homeroom or advisory teachers
The drive will officially kick off with a school assembly on November 17, and culminate with our freshmen and seniors delivering donations to St. Anna’s on December 9 or 10.
We, along with our partners at St. Anna’s Episcopal Church, are deeply grateful for your generosity and support. Together, we are living out our call to serve—and showing what it truly means to be a community of Saints.
