George Cottage Threes Settle Into New Classrooms and 10,000 Sq. Ft. Outdoor Playground
January 5th, 2026
Following Christmas Break, the George Cottage Threes joyfully returned to campus on Monday, January 5—and this time, they walked into something entirely new. After months of anticipation, students officially moved into their newly completed classrooms and began exploring the expansive 10,000-square-foot outdoor playground, marking an exciting milestone for early childhood education at St. Martin’s Episcopal School.
From the moment students arrived, the energy was unmistakable. Curious eyes took in light-filled classrooms designed intentionally for our young learners—spaces that invite discovery, encourage independence, and support joyful learning through play.
Thoughtfully Designed Classrooms for Three-Year-Old Learners
The new George Cottage classrooms were created with early childhood development at the center of every design decision. Inspired by Reggio-informed principles, the environments emphasize:
Natural light and open space to foster calm, focused learning
Hands-on learning areas that encourage exploration, creativity, and collaboration
Child-centered design supporting independence, movement, and choice
For the Threes, the new classrooms quickly became places not just to learn, but to feel at home—safe, inspired, and excited to begin each day.
A 10,000 Sq. Ft. Outdoor Playground Built for Wonder and Movement
Just steps from the classrooms, students also experienced their new 10,000-square-foot outdoor playground, a transformational addition to the George Cottage environment. Designed as an extension of the classroom, the playground supports whole-child development through:
Gross motor play and physical confidence
Social interaction and imaginative exploration
Outdoor learning that connects children to nature
From climbing and running to collaborative play and quiet observation, the outdoor space offers endless opportunities for movement, joy, and discovery.
A Milestone Moment for George Cottage and Early Childhood at St. Martin’s
This move represents more than a change of location—it reflects St. Martin’s ongoing commitment to investing in purposeful learning environments that honor how young children grow, learn, and thrive.
As the George Cottage Threes begin this new chapter, their laughter, curiosity, and sense of wonder fill these spaces exactly as they were designed to be filled.
The first day may be over, but the learning, playing, and growing in these new classrooms—and on this remarkable playground—has only just begun.
