St. Martin’s Alumna and Choir Director Christina Comer ’91 Shines as Featured Soprano in New Orleans Civic Symphony Concert
May 23rd, 2025
St. Martin’s Episcopal School proudly celebrates Choir Director and alumna Christina Vial Comer ’91, who was recently featured as a soprano soloist in the New Orleans Civic Symphony’s spring concert. Her performance captivated the community and served as a shining example of the exceptional talent that continues to grow from—and return to—St. Martin’s.
A classically trained lyric soprano, Mrs. Comer’s musical journey began right here at St. Martin’s, where she took center stage in The Pirates of Penzance as an 8th grader. Her early passion for music led her to the University of the South, followed by a Master of Music and postgraduate diploma in operatic performance from the prestigious San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Her professional career has included leading operatic roles in productions such as Le Nozze di Figaro and La Bohème, as well as soloist performances in major choral works like Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Requiem. After years of success on New York stages and co-founding Opus Opera, Mrs. Comer returned to her alma mater to share her gifts with the next generation.
As the director of St. Martin’s Middle and Upper School choirs, she brings talent, heart, and a deep love for the craft of music education. Her students thrive under her leadership—performing classical repertoire, Broadway hits, sacred hymns, and even opening for the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.
Mrs. Comer’s return to St. Martin’s is more than a homecoming—it’s a full-circle story of passion, excellence, and legacy.
