Marti Awards Celebrate Performing Arts Students

May 12th, 2025

The St. Martin’s Performing Arts Department hosted the Marti Awards on May 8, celebrating the achievements, growth and creativity of students in the Performing Arts Department.

International Thespian Society

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor society for high school theatre students. The society was founded in 1929 and has grown to include more than 2.3 million members in over 4,900 schools across the United States and abroad.

Brittan Comer, MaryAlice Comer, Dylan Engles, Dublin Hoerner, Aidan Molaison, and Marigny Molaison were officially inducted as new members into St. Martin’s Episcopal School’s, Troupe No. 4744 of the International Thespian Society. Through their work in theatre, the candidates have earned the right to become members of the International Thespian Society.

One of the key programs of ITS is the Thespian Point System, which recognizes and rewards students for their achievements in theatre. The point system awards points to students for participating in various theatre-related activities, including performances, technical work, and leadership roles.

As students earn points, they progress through different levels of recognition, starting at the Thespian level and advancing to higher ranks such as International Honor Thespian. These ranks are determined based on the number of points earned and the level of achievement in school theatre.

The International Thespian Society provides a platform for theatre students to showcase their skills and dedication to their craft, while also offering opportunities for recognition and advancement within the society.

International Honor Thespian is achieved when students have earned a minimum of 180 points or more. The following students have reached International Honor Thespian Rank: Ella Bozeman and Oli Lyons

Outstanding Lower Schooler

Our first Outstanding Lower Schooler Award goes to a student who brought heart, humor, and professionalism to his performances this season. As “Chip” in “Beauty and the Beast Jr,” he captured audiences with his charm and energy, proving that even a small role can be a mighty one. His positive attitude, strong work ethic, and love for performing make him a true standout in our program. We are so proud to recognize his contributions on and off the stage. Congratulations to Bennett Buckley!

Our second Outstanding Lower Schooler Award goes to a student whose talent, growth, and enthusiasm have truly set her apart. She has shown remarkable development over the past year—so much so that she was invited to join the Middle School ensemble while still in Lower School. Her passion for performing is evident in every rehearsal, every performance, and in the way she consistently strives for excellence. Her dedication to her craft is both inspiring and deeply deserving of recognition. Congratulations to Caroline Weaver!

Outstanding Middle Schooler

The 2025 Outstanding Middle Schooler made a big impression early in the year—not with jazz hands or high notes, but with eerie wails and ghostly tears. His unforgettable performance in our fall Ghostly Acres was both chilling and strangely moving—a true sign of his dedication to every role, no matter the setting. Then, he traded shadows for candlelight and absolutely dazzled as Lumière in Beauty and the Beast. With charm, comedic timing, and a stage presence well beyond his years, he lit up the stage and brought one of the show’s most beloved characters to life. From haunting halls to lighting up scenes, this student has proven he can do it all—and do it brilliantly. Drew Kosarek is this year’s Outstanding Middle Schooler!

Outstanding Freshman

This year’s Outstanding Freshman has already made a significant impact on our program, not just through her beautiful singing, but also with her kindness and generosity of spirit. As the Baker in Beauty and the Beast, she brought warmth and heart to her role, showing the true meaning of dedication both on and off the stage. While her vocal talent shines, it’s her willingness to guide and encourage the younger cast members, showing them the ‘ropes’ and offering friendship, that truly sets her apart. Her quiet strength and steady presence make her a true asset to our community. Our 2025 Outstanding Freshman is Marigny Molaison.

Outstanding Sophomore

Our first Outstanding Sophomore is a true triple threat—someone who excels in every aspect of performance. As Madame de la Grande Bouche in Beauty and the Beast, she brought both elegance and comedic flair to the role, showing off her powerhouse vocals, and stellar acting skills. Whether she’s singing, dancing, or delivering a memorable line, this performer consistently raises the bar. Her versatility and dedication make her a standout in our program, and we’re excited to see all the amazing things she’ll accomplish in the years to come. Presenting our Outstanding Sophomore, MaryAlice Comer.

Our second Outstanding Sophomore is a powerhouse performer who has proven time and time again that no role is too big or too small. Whether he was leading the way as Radcliffe in Ghostly Acres this fall or delivering a memorable performance as LeFou in Beauty and the Beast, his energy, commitment, and stage presence are undeniable. He brings depth, humor, and authenticity to every role he takes on, showing that he can truly play anything—whether it’s a ghostly character or the quirky sidekick. This student’s talent and versatility shines in all that he performs. The second Outstanding Sophomore is Dylan Engles.

Outstanding Junior

Our Outstanding Junior is a student whose vocal talent is beyond his years. His powerful voice commands attention, but it’s his genuine character that truly sets him apart. As Gaston in “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.,” he embraced a role so far removed from his own nature, capturing the character's bravado with impressive skill and flair. Offstage, he’s a kind, humble individual admired by students and teachers alike. His ability to balance talent, athleticism, and integrity makes him a true role model in our community. The Outstanding Junior of 2025 is Aidan Molaison.

Outstanding Senior

Our Outstanding Senior is a truly talented young lady whose passion for performing began at a very young age and has only grown brighter with time. As Belle in Beauty and the Beast, she brought grace, depth, and heart to one of the most iconic roles in musical theatre. On stage, she is a bright light—captivating audiences with her presence and her powerful performance. Offstage, her kindness, leadership, and unwavering dedication continue to inspire those around her. She has not only left an indelible mark on our productions, but also on the hearts of everyone lucky enough to work with her. Savannah Westacott is the 2025 Outstanding Senior.

Inaugural Technician of the Year

Our Technician of the Year is a student who fearlessly stepped into one of the most demanding and vital roles in any production—Stage Manager. For “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.,” he took on this responsibility with confidence, professionalism, and a calm presence that anchored the entire cast and crew. Throughout the process, he blossomed in the role, demonstrating not only an impressive knowledge of technical theatre, but also the leadership skills and maturity that set the tone backstage. His growth, dedication, and steady hand made a tremendous impact on the success of our show, and we are proud to honor him for his exceptional contributions behind the scenes. The recipient of our first-ever Technician of the Year Award is Drew Rivas.

Thespian of the Year

The Thespian of the Year Award recognizes the most dedicated and talented members of Performing Arts. To be eligible for the award, students must have demonstrated a deep commitment through their participation in productions, rehearsals, and other performance-related activities. This award is not simply about talent; it is about the dedication and hard work that students have put into making Performing Arts the best it can be. We want to honor those who have truly made a difference in our performing arts community, and who have contributed to our successes through their passion and hard work.

The recipient of our Thespian of the Year has graced St. Martin’s stage for many years, leaving an unforgettable mark on StM Performing Arts. From her first performance to her final curtain call, she has shown us what it truly means to be a dedicated artist and leader. An accomplished singer with numerous awards and accolades to her name, she has consistently raised the bar in every role she’s taken on. Who can forget Fester? This year, she brought the beloved character of Mrs. Potts to life in Beauty and the Beast with warmth, depth, and a voice that captivated the audience. Beyond her talent on stage, she has also served as this year’s Performing Arts President, demonstrating unwavering leadership, commitment, and a deep passion for nurturing the next generation of performers. Her contributions, both artistic and personal, have shaped our program in ways that will be felt for years to come, and we are so proud to honor Ella Bozeman as the 2024-25 Thespian of the Year.
