Saints on Parade
February 24th, 2025
Every year several members of the StM community participate in Carnival festivities. Here’s how to spot the Red and Blue amid all the purple, green, and gold.
Caroline Laudan ’29 participated in the ball for the krewe of Okeanos as a junior maid. She was also a maid for the 100th anniversary of the Children’s Carnival Club.
Sophie Chailland ’25 is Queen Argus XL and will be riding in Metairie on Mardi Gras Day. Sophie has had several positions in the Krewe of Argus Royal court including Page to the Queen in 2014, Princess to her Sister who was Queen in 2017, Lady in Waiting in 2020, Junior Maid in 2022, and Maid in 2024. Sophie's duties have included the Coronation back in August 2024, the Queen's Luncheon in November 2024, Krewe of Argus Ball on February 7, 2025, and Celebrating Jefferson Parish's 200th Bicentennial February 11th at Lakeside Shopping Center for Carnival Kickoff. Queen Sophie spoke at the Lower School Chapel on Monday, and will soon celebrate Lundi Gras in Kenner Rivertown, where she will meet with the King and Queen of Zulu.
Bay Bowes ’29 is a Maid in the Krewe of Isis this year. The Coronation occurred last September, and the Ball was held during the first weekend of January. Bay will ride on one of the Maids’ floats during their parade, which will roll on Saturday, March 1. Bay’s father will be her escort for the parade.
Look for Dixie Patrick, StM parent and former Lower School teacher, when the Krewe of King Arthur rolls tonight on the Uptown Route. Mrs. Patrick will be on the queen’s float.
Middle School teacher Gene Hernandez will be riding with the Krewe of Tucks when it rolls on Saturday, March 1.
