St. Martin’s Welcomes New Board Members for 2024-25 School Year
July 9th, 2024
St. Martin’s Episcopal School is pleased to announce the recent appointment of five new members to its board of trustees: Jennifer E. Adams ’92, Kate McCall Clarke ’79, Allison Johnston DeViney ’92, Barbara Farris ’94, and Alicia Vial ’89. These board members were elected to three-year terms, each beginning July 1, 2024, and are joined by incoming board chair Bruce Parkerson ’75, who will serve a two-year term as chair. The other officers include J. Kelly Duncan ’72 (vice chair), Elisabeth (Liz) Martin Armstrong ’78 (secretary), Michael Broxson '87 (treasurer), and Michael F. Nicoladis ’78, (past chair).
“We could not be more thrilled to have such an esteemed group of leaders joining the board,” said Parkerson. “These new board members are not only extremely accomplished individuals, they have also demonstrated incredible dedication and service to St. Martin’s in their unwavering support and volunteerism. We cannot wait to benefit from their perspectives and experience.”
Jennifer E. Adams is a St. Martin’s alumna from the Class of 1992 with a deep-rooted connection to the school and community. She is an accomplished attorney specializing in complex litigation, with an emphasis on product liability and toxic exposure cases. Adams credits her passion for the law to her participation in Mock Trial as a student at St. Martin’s. Over the years, she has served St. Martin’s as an Alumni Class Agent and a member of the Alumni Board. Her son, Miles, is a rising third grader at St. Martin’s.
Kate McCall Clarke, of St. Martin’s Class of 1979, has extensive experience in professional fundraising and leadership within schools and nonprofits. She is passionate about education and fostering excellence in young people, and says her time at St.Martin’s fostered her deep commitment to education and service, shaping a career in fundraising and volunteer leadership in education and faith-based organizations. Eager to support St. Martin's mission, Clarke is ready to bring her passion, leadership experience, and dedication to the Board of Trustees, contributing to the school's success.
Allison Johnston DeViney ’92, has three generations of connection to St. Martin’s. DeViney, along with her father, uncle, brother, and oldest son, are all StM alumni. Her middle son, Mac, is a member of the Class of 2027, and her youngest son is a future StM student. A dedicated parent volunteer with a strong commitment to the St. Martin’s community, DeViney has served as SCO President, Gala Chair, and Annual Giving Chair. She is also an active member of the Booster Club. DeViney is honored to begin her term on the board, contributing significantly to the school's legacy.
Barbara Farris ’94, decorated St. Martin’s, Tulane University, and WNBA athlete and high school basketball coach, understands the benefits of a strong athletics program within an academic setting. With demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and commitment to excellence, Farris is eager to give back to her alma mater and ensure its students have the same opportunities to excel in the classroom and in athletics. Farris is excited to bring her passion for robust athletic programs alongside a solid academic curriculum to support St. Martin’s as it continues to build on its positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes.
Alicia Vial ’89, proud parent of three current St. Martin’s students, has a deep connection to the school as a parent, alumna, and longtime volunteer. Vial brings to the board leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills honed via her background in healthcare and management. She is a passionate advocate for student well-being and education, and has served St. Martin’s for more than a decade as a room parent, library volunteer, and event volunteer, supporting the Booster Club and Performing Arts. Through her work on the board, Vial is thrilled to continue to strengthen her deep connection to the school and help ensure its continued success.
