Students Earn Theatre Letterman Jackets
February 26th, 2024
This year some theatre students are sporting a new look. For the first time, St. Martin’s theatre students have the opportunity to earn letterman jackets for participation in the theatre program. St. Martin’s Thespian Troupe 4744 is a member of the International Thespian Society (ITS), an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students.
Students may earn ITS points by participating in theatre productions, with one Thespian point representing approximately ten hours of quality work that they do as part of class or extracurricular participation. In order to be eligible for a Theatre letter, students must earn 60 points. The following Saints have qualified for that honor: Lainey Dobson ’24, Emy Farber ’24, Kyle Lawrence ’24, Oli Lyons ’25, Charles Patrick ’24, and Colin Richard ’24.
The jackets carry a much deeper meaning than mere fabric and embroidery. They serve as a symbol of the students’ achievements and dedication to performing arts at St. Martin’s.
“Our students work incredibly hard – balancing homework and projects, other extracurricular activities, and family life,” said Theater Director Lynne Bordelon. “They give up nights and weekends to run lines, practice choreography, build sets, design stage lighting sequences, repair costumes – you name it. It is exciting and affirming to see their work recognized in a tangible way. It’s a special honor to earn and I’m so proud of our students for all their achievements!”
