February 24th, 2025
St. Martin’s is pleased to be part of the 2025 Civil Discourse Speaker Series. This year’s speaker, Allan Carey, Director of Sphere Education Initiatives at the Cato Institute, will speak to Upper School students, followed by a Q&A, at an StM-only event on campus Tuesday, March 25. In addition, the public is invited to attend a free event that evening, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Isidore Newman School.
Tuesday, March 25
5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Isidore Newman School | Henson Auditorium
5333 Danneel Street
Free and Open to the Public
The anniversary of America’s remarkable though imperfect founding 250 years ago is an opportunity to evaluate the importance of freedom of speech and freedom of conscience, and of our willingness to speak our minds without fear of silencing.
John Landrum will interview Allan Carey on the importance of these critical freedoms in America’s ongoing journey to protect and expand equal rights, and on modeling effective methods to bring civil discourse and controversial topics into the classroom.
About Our Speaker: Allan Carey
Allan Carey is the Director of Sphere Education Initiatives at the Cato Institute, where he leads the organization’s efforts to engage grades 5-12 educators, including the annual Sphere Summit on civic education, civil discourse, and the institutions of civic culture.
