At St. Martin's Episcopal School students at all levels enjoy ample opportunities to explore their creativity through the performing arts and visual art.

Students are engaged across a broad spectrum of the visual arts — including painting and drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and design — with a faculty of active professionals who bring their work, relationships, and connections straight into our state-of-the art studios and display spaces. Fine arts classes encourage not only creative expression, but also critical thinking skills. Students discover through hands-on art experiences that there is often more than one solution to a problem. The Merrick Fine Arts Building features 2,800 square feet of space with a ceramics studio, two 2D drawing studios, a Lower School art room, and a beautiful naturally-lit center gallery to display art.

St. Martin’s students enjoy ample opportunities to explore their creativity through the performing arts. Performing arts is taught to students from all divisions. George Cottage children learn musical fundamentals and perform songs and dances for musical programs. Lower School students may participate in music classes, theater enrichment, band, choir, or handbells. Middle School students may choose among band, choir, photography, or theater fine arts electives. Upper School students are offered classes in acting, band, choir, music theory, set design, and technical theater.  Middle and Upper School choirs have been invited to perform not only throughout the greater New Orleans area, but also on trips to places such as Disney World and New York City. Middle and Upper School students are encouraged to perform on stage or explore supporting roles in set design, lighting design, sound design, and audio recording through 20 performances each year. Students perform in St. Martin’s 500-seat Solomon Theater, which features professional lighting and staging. St. Martin’s is the place to find your voice, bring out your inner Broadway star, or march to the beat of your own drum.
