College preparation is at the heart of St. Martin’s Episcopal School's mission.
The college counseling department provides a customized search and application experience for each student. The program begins informally in the freshman year with course selection advice and culminates in a personalized search for the student’s “best-fit” colleges. Seniors benefit from individual attention and support throughout the college application process, with access to the counselor during weekly application workshops and as needed on an individual basis.
The key to a successful college search is the student’s engagement in the process. While it is our belief that the college search is an adventure, we expect our students to participate in serious self-reflection to identify appropriate goals and strategies for success. The college counselor offers encouragement and expertise to guide the student through that quest.
Every St. Martin's junior benefits from professional test preparation from Test Masters, LLC during the school day. In the first quarter of junior year, students master strategies for success on the PSAT/SAT. In the second quarter, juniors work with our testing expert to prepare for the ACT. This program is intended to optimize each student's testing performance and, in turn, their college options. The school-day program allows students to prepare for these critical tests without sacrificing the rigor of our academic curriculum or compromising their after-school activities.
