District Swim Meet - Saturday, 10/25/14
STM hosted the district swimming championship on Saturday, October 25 at the Thanksgiving Pool. Both the boys and girls teams finished in 3rd place. The meet was the final meet at STM for seniors Ross Reggio and Josh Wollfarth. Both had top three finishes in the 50 and 100 free.
STM Meet vs. Thomas Jefferson, East Jefferson, Sacred Heart & Haynes - Tuesday, 10/7/2014
The STM Varsity Swim Team wrapped up their 2014 regular season on Tuesday with victories over East Jefferson and Haynes Academy. Abbey Sims got the Saints off to a great start when she won the 50 free with a best time of 29.94. Ross Reggio and Josh Wollfarth followed that with a 1st and 2nd place finish in their 100 yard freestyle. Patrick Adams finished his meet by winning his 100 Back and Lainey Pickens won her 100 breast.
The next meet for the Saints will be the District Championship at STM on October 25th.
Newman Meet - Tuesday, September 30, 2014
On Tuesday, September 30, the STM Swim Team competed at the Newman pool. Although outnumbered, the Saints were extremely competitive and had many great swims. Richard Whitney got the Saints started when he won his 200 free with a time of 2:09.86. Ross Reggio and Josh Wollfarth tied for 2nd in the men's 50 yard freestyle event. Abbey Sims also placed 2nd in her 50 free. In the men's 100 freestyle, the Saints took the top three spots: Ross Reggio placed 1st, followed by Josh Wollfarth in 2nd and Richard Whitney finished 3rd. Abbey Sims, Jessie Pickens, along with Isabella and Allie Bartholomew, represented the Saints in the 200 free relays and finished 2nd. The boys relay finished 1st. On the relay were Ross Reggio, Josh Wollfarth, Richard Whitney and Patrick Adams. Patrick also had a 2nd place finish in his 100 fly (1:08.22) and a 1st place finish in his 100 back.
The next meet for the Saints will be next Tuesday, October 7 at the Thanksgiving Pool.
US Swim Meet - vs. Thomas Jefferson, East Jefferson and Sacred Heart - Tuesday, September 16, 2014
The STM Varsity swim team competed in their second swim meet of the year at the STM Thanksgiving Pool. The STM girls 200 medley relay got the meet started with a 2nd Place finish. Swimming on the relay were Madison Cummings, Lainey Pickens, Jessie Pickens and Chloe Bartholomew. Lainey Pickens also finished in 2nd Place in the 200 IM and qualified for State with a time of 2:42.80. Madison Cummings and Brooke Williamson both had great swims in the 100 free. Madison finished in 3rd Place with a time of 1:08.77 and Brooke finished 4th with a time of 1:09.79. Both girls qualified for State. Brooke qualified for State in the 50 free with a time of 31.19. Both girls qulaified for State.
Patrick Adams swam two best times in his 100 Fly and his 100 back. Patrick finished 3rd in fly and 2nd in the back. Ross Reggio placed 2nd in the 50 and 100 free, and Richard Whitney placed 2nd in his 200 free and 3rd in his 100 back.
The next meet for the Saints is Tuesday, September 30th at Newman.
US Swimming - STM Meet - September 9, 2014
The St. Martin's Swim Team kicked off the 2014 season last night at the STM Thanksgiving Pool. The STM Saints had many great swims against some very tough competition. Betzy Liriano got the Saints off to a great night after she finished in 2nd Place in the 200 Free and 1st Place in the 500 Free. Betzy also achieved a State qualifying time in the 200 Free. 8th Grader, Lainey Pickens, finished 2nd in the 100 Fly and 1st in the 100 Breast. Lainey qualified for State in both of her events. Chloe Bartholomew and Abbey Sims finished 3rd and 4th in the 100 Free; both qualified for the State Meet. Ally Bartholomew finished in 3rd Place in the 100 Back and qualified for State. The STM Girls team won their meet against Hahnville and East Jefferson, and finished just behind St. Charles Catholic.
The STM boys' team also won their meet against East Jefferson. Ritchie Whitney finished 3rd and qualified for State in the 200 Free and 500 Free. Ross Reggio and Josh Wollfarth both qualified for State in the 50 and 100 Free. Patrick Adams finished 3rd in the 100 Back and qualified for State in the 100 Back as well as the 200 Free.
