Students Recognized with Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
StM seniors Clara Rabe, Olivia Ernst, and AnnaBeth Talbot recently received 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented by the Greater New Orleans Writing Project. Rabe received a gold key, five silver keys, and an honorable mention for her photography submissions. Ernst earned an honorable mention for her senior art portfolio. Talbot received an honorable mention for her painting.

Rabe will be honored at a ceremony and art show for local gold key recipients at the University of New Orleans on April 13.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the nation’s longest-running recognition program for students in grades 7-12. Each year, hundreds of thousands of works of visual art and writing are submitted to the Scholastic Awards. The top art and writing at regional levels move on to the national competition, where students’ works can earn National Medals.

Since 1923, the Awards program has recognized some of America’s most celebrated artists while they were teenagers, including Andy Warhol, Richard Avedon, Idelle Weber, Ken Burns, Paul Chan, and Kay WalkingStick.
