Middle School Student Selected for District VI Honor Choir
Sixth grader Zachary G. was selected for the 2017 Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) District VI Honor Choir. Selection in the LMEA Honor Choir is based on an audition before a panel of judges, during which the student performs a choral work provided in advance and is also asked to sight-read music. This is the second consecutive year Zachary has been selected for the prestigious chorus.

In January, Zachary will participate in a series of rehearsals which will culminate in a full concert on the final weekend. The rehearsals and concert are similar to a master class in choral performance and will be conducted by a prominent guest choral director retained by the LMEA. Zachary entered the competition as a private student under the tutelage of a vocal coach. The full experience of the District Honor Choir is a wonderful learning opportunity for these young singers.

LMEA is a Federated State Association of NAfME, the National Association for Music Education.  The mission of the Louisiana Music Educators Association is to provide leadership, professional development, and support for its membership to ensure quality music education.
