St. Martin's sweeps the District 9-1A Cross Country Championship

2021 District 9-1A Cross Country Championships – October 26, 2021
 
GIRLS VARSITY
 
The St. Martin’s girls cross country team is the District 9-1A Cross Country team champions for 2021! Leading the way for STM was individual district girls champion, Meera Hijazi (Fr.) with a new personal best time of 20:24.87 for the three-mile course. Finishing second overall was Devyn McManus (Gr.7) with a time of 20:51.48.

Also, in the scoring five for STM were:
Nia Norton (Gr.8) (4th place with a new personal best time of 21:05.48), Juliet Whitaker (Gr.8) (5th place) and Kaitlyn Hall (So.) (7th place). Also representing St. Martin’s in this race were Lauren Bone (Sr.) (9th place), Maria Cusimano (Jr.) (11th place), and Samantha Thompson (Jr.) (13th place).
 
Named to the 2021 District 9-1A Cross Country All-District Girls Team: Meera Hijazi, Devyn McManus, Nia Norton, Juliet Whitaker, Kaitlyn Hall, and Lauren Bone.
 
BOYS VARSITY
 
The St. Martin’s boys cross-country team is the district 9-1A Cross Country team champions for 2021! They challenged the three-mile course at City Park and many of the boys ran season or lifetime personal best times!
Leading the way for STM was Randy Dunkin (Jr.) with a 3rd place finish covering the three-mile course in 18:13.48. Right behind Randy was Blake Verdigets (Jr.) finishing 4th overall in the race. He was followed by Carter Scheuermann (So.) who finished 5th overall in the race. Right on Carter’s heels was Tommy Garvey (So.) who finished 6th. Rounding out the scoring five was Frankie Cusimano (Fr.) with an 8th place finish.
Also representing STM in this race were Peyton Crosby (Fr.), Daniel Thompson (Sr.), James Garvey (Sr.)  and Justin Hall (Jr.).
 
Named to the 2021 District 9-1A Cross Country All-District Boys Team: Randy Dunkin, Blake Verdigets, Carter Scheuermann, Tommy Garvey, and Frankie Cusimano.
