StM Welcomes New Faculty in All Divisions!
St. Martin's faculty and staff are dedicated to providing a caring, supportive, and engaging environment for our students. This year, several new members are joining this community of dedicated professionals.
Rev. Lindsey Ardrey
Rev. Lindsey Ardrey is the new Middle School chaplain. Ardrey has her Master of Divinity from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas, and her B.A. from Western Kentucky University. For four years she served as the children's and youth minister, and Lower School chaplain, at St. George's Episcopal Church and School. Prior to relocating to New Orleans, she coordinated co-curricular youth programs in partnership between public schools and universities.
Ms. Sierra Bailey
Sierra Bailey is the new Lower School music teacher. She has her Bachelor’s of Music Education from Loyola University New Orleans and completed her teaching residency at Holy Name of Jesus School last spring. She briefly taught at the Whelan Center in Uptown New Orleans through Loyola's music education program. Bailey is excited to create wonderful music with our students at St. Martin's and share it with our community!
Mr. Aleksander Bahat
Aleksander Bahat joins Upper School as a math teacher. Bahat has his Bachelor's in mathematics from Tulane University. Previously, he tutored high school and college students for five years before joining StM in the Spring of 2021.
Mrs. Meagan Campos
Meagan Campos will be serving in both the Middle and Upper Schools as a learning specialist. Campos has her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of New Orleans, and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Orleans with a focus in Literacy Leadership and a Reading Specialist Add-On. She is in her tenth year as an educator, and she has taught first, second, third, seventh, and eighth grades. Her two sons will be attending StM this year; Eli is in the fifth grade and Ezra is in the first grade.
Mr. Benjamin Chung
Benjamin Chung is joining the StM dining hall staff. He is from Kien-Giang, Vietnam, and has lived in the United States since the 1980s. He has previous experience working as a chef in various environments. Chung highly values family and faith, which makes him feel right at home at StM.
Mr. Johnny Collins
Johnny Collins joins StM as the head baseball coach and Upper School health and PE teacher. Collins has his B.S. in Education Kinesiology with a Sports Studies concentration. He was born and raised in Metairie and has ample experience that makes him perfect for the job. He is an avid sports fan, especially New Orleans Saints football and all Louisiana State University sports.
Ms. Meredith Duhe
Meredith Duhe is StM’s new alumni engagement coordinator. She grew up in the New Orleans area and recently graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Marketing. Over the past five years, Meredith has held various positions in marketing, communication, and fundraising efforts that make her perfect for this role. Happy to have begun her StM career, she is enthusiastic about helping to strengthen relationships with alumni and increase engagement.
Mrs. Shelly Foster
Shelley Foster is our new Lower School learning specialist. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Psychology from Loyola University, New Orleans. She received her Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She is a speech-language pathologist who has been coming to St. Martin’s to see students with her private practice over the last several years. Shelley said, “I am so blessed to be a part of this amazing faculty.”
Mr. Eduardo Gonzalez
Eduardo Gonzalez is joining Upper School as a Spanish teacher. Gonzalez received his Theology Bachelor’s degree from Universidad Autonoma de Montemorelos in Mexico. He received his certificate of Teaching of English from Cambridge University. He has been teaching for more than 20 years, working with middle school and high school. He was a coordinator for a school’s language department for kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Ms. Risa Indest
Risa Indest joins the Lower School as a new learning specialist. She grew up here in New Orleans before attending Louisiana State University, where she received her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. Then she earned a Master’s in Special Education from the University of New Orleans, where she also qualified for a Reading Specialist certification. With six years of experience as an interventionist and ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher from St. Tammany and Orleans parishes, Indest comes to StM with much expertise. Indest is the mother of three sons (Marcus, 10; Maverick, 4; and Milo, who is in the Cottage this year in the “ones”).
Mrs. Kim Irons
We are welcoming Kim Irons back as the new Director of Enrollment. She has her Bachelor's degree from Florida State University. She was a former P.E. teacher and coach for seven years prior to coming to St. Martin's. Previously, Irons was the Associate Director of Admissions at StM for three years. She is beyond thrilled to be back at St. Martin's!
Mrs. Linda Jouet
Upper School is welcoming back Linda Jouet after what she describes as a “failed attempt at retirement.” Jouet has her B.A. from Tulane University, and a Master’s of Education from the University of New Orleans. She previously worked as the Upper School administrative assistant, and as an Upper School substitute during her brief retirement. She has expressed how excited she is to be the assistant college counselor in the College Counseling Office this year.
Ms. Makenzie Kozojet '09
Makenzie Kozojet from the class of 2009 returns to StM as the new Director of Marketing and Communications. Kozojet joins StM from Tulane University where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art History, followed by her Master’s of Liberal Arts. She has worked at Tulane in several capacities in marketing, frontline fundraising, and most recently in the Office of Admission. Kozojet grew up in New Orleans and enjoys marching in Mardi Gras parades with the Candy Girls Dance Krewe.
Ms. Brooke Landry
Brooke Landry joins the George Cottage faculty. Landry has her Associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Delgado, a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Holy Cross University, and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Loyola University New Orleans. She taught at Loyola’s Whelan Children’s Center for 16 years, pre-k 3 and pre-k 4 at Stuart Hall School for Boys, and as a substitute teacher at StM the past two years.
Ms. Velinda Mascorro
Velinda Mascorro joins StM as the new Middle School Spanish teacher. Mascorro has her B.A. from Tulane University and has done post-baccalaureate studies in Spanish in Madrid, Spain with the University of New Orleans study abroad program. For the past twenty+ years, she taught Spanish and AP psychology to high school students. She has also worked privately in a co-op where she taught Spanish to homeschool students. She is passionate about the exchange of energy, zeal, and fervor that middle schoolers bring to the table!
Ms. Vivian Nguyen
Vivian Nguyen joined the St. Martin’s dining hall staff in November 2020. She has ample experience in food services, including owning a Vietnamese bistro. Nguyen’s bubbly personality makes students feel welcomed and cared for. She is looking forward to seeing all of the students visit the dining hall this year.
Dr. Jewel Reuter
Jewel Reuter is the new Upper School biology, biology honors, and physics teacher. She has a B.S. in Biochemistry and an M.A. in Teaching from Tulane University. She also has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University. Reuter has called New Orleans home for most of her life. She has decades of teaching and administrative experience, including eight years of Episcopal education experience at Episcopal School Baton Rouge. Creativity, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (C-STEM) education and using research-based teaching strategies are her areas of greatest interest.
Mrs. Maureen Smith
Maureen Smith joins St. Martin’s as the computer science teacher. Smith has a Fine Arts degree from Hussian College in Philadelphia, and a Computer Science Certification through the University of Oregon. She is currently enrolled in Tulane’s School of Professional Advancement for teacher certification and a Master of Liberal Arts degree. Smith taught early childhood (pre-k 3 and kindergarten) at St. Matthew The Apostle School for seven years, graphic arts middle school elective at Kenner Discovery for three years. She also taught digital media, multimedia, and AP computer science at the high school level for three years.
Dr. Arthur Stout '99
Arthur “West” Stout '99 returns to StM to join Upper School as a Social Studies teacher. Stout received his B.A. from St. John’s College, his Master’s in History, and his Ph.D. in History from Louisiana State University. He previously worked as a history instructor at LSU before starting at StM in the spring of 2021.
Ms. Tricia Walter
Tricia Walter joins StM as an Upper School Spanish Teacher. She has her Master’s from Miami University. Previously she worked for the Peace Corps, Wake Forest University, Yale University, and the Chilean Ministry of Education. She is originally from Maine but is excited to be in New Orleans. She enjoys ballroom dancing, sailing, hiking, and kayaking!
Ms. Barbara Weaver
Lower School is welcoming Barbara Weaver back after a brief retirement. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia. She has 32 years in the brokerage industry and ten years of teaching third grade at StM. Her son, Hardy, graduated from StM in 2004.
Mrs. Nicky Wood
Nicky Wood joins StM as a new PE teacher. Wood has her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans. She has years of experience in fitness and nutrition. She managed a fitness center for six years, ran her own group fitness business for ten years, and spent eight years as a PE teacher and coach at St. Mary’s Dominican High School.
