Varsity Cross Country Has Strong Showing in Cajun Classic
St. Martin’s cross-country teams stayed in town for the Country Day Cajun Classic Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday, October 3. St. Martin’s competed in Varsity and Junior Varsity races.  Race conditions were exceptionally good due to cool temperatures and low wind conditions.
 
Girls Varsity
Kaitlyn Hall (freshman) and Rian McManus (sophomore) led the way for the girl’s team. Kaitlyn finished 3rd and marked a new personal best with a time of 19:58.00. Rian finished 8th overall with a time of 20:33.00. Senior Isabella Bartholomew joined Kaitlyn and Rian in the top ten with a time of 20:59.00. Also representing St. Martin’s in this race were Lauren Bone, Maria Cusimano, and Samantha Thompson. The team finished 5th overall.
 
Boys Varsity
Randy Dunkin (sophomore) and Blake Verdigets (sophomore) led the way for the boy’s team, finishing in the top 20 of the boys' varsity race.  Both young men ran to new lifetime personal best times for three miles. Randy achieved 17:50.56 and Blake achieved 17:56.13. Also representing St. Martin’s in this race were junior Daniel Thompson (19:33.02 a new lifetime personal best), freshmen Tommy Garvey (19:38.72 a new lifetime personal best), Harris Huber, and James Garvey. The team finished 5th overall.
 
Junior Varsity
Senior Nicholas Arensman completed his first three-mile race in a respectable time of 22:03.00. August Schmedtje and Kaylee Carracci also represented St. Martin’s in this race.
