Junior Participates in Shakespeare Festival
Junior Isabella Bartholomew competed at the regional Shakespeare Festival hosted by the New Orleans branch of the National English-Speaking Union at Tulane University on March 1. Izzy memorized a soliloquy and a sonnet for her recitation. This year marked the first time a St. Martin’s student has participated in the competition.

The English-Speaking Union of the United States was formally organized in 1920. Its founder, Sir Evelyn Wrench, believed that the maintenance of the close ties forged between America and Britain during World War I was necessary for the preservation of peace. The New Orleans branch holds events throughout the year, such as author talks and an annual tea, to promote those ties. StM alum Michael D. Harold ’83 is a current board member of the New Orleans branch.
