COVID-19 School Information & Messages

CURRENT, July 27, 3:15 p.m.

Dear St. Martin’s Families,

The planning and preparation for the 2020-21 year have been unlike any ever before, and I am most grateful for the way our community has worked together to create a plan to safely return to campus and ensure a successful school year.

We are reaffirming our commitment to opening school on campus on August 12, but we also recognize that there is a concern among some families about returning to campus at this time. We understand that our families may be facing a variety of challenges and we are committed to providing our full support. Therefore, following significant thought and preparation, I am pleased to inform you that we will be offering StM families the option to pursue online learning.

We are fully prepared to deliver our curriculum to all of our students. In addition to our on-campus program, we have prepared a robust virtual format for all PreK through 12th grade students. They will be able to access lessons from home during the school day, and the lessons will be recorded for your child to access at any time. You will have the flexibility to choose the format that best suits your family’s needs.

A comprehensive Return to School Guide with more details will be emailed soon. In the meanwhile, if you plan to select remote learning for your child, please contact your division head immediately.

In other matters, if schools are required by the city or state to close campus for a period of time, George Cottage will remain open, unless we are instructed otherwise. In addition, we are pursuing the license needed to include PreK and Kindergarten in that scenario, so that those children will be able to stay on campus as well. As soon as we receive approval from the state, we will make an official announcement to you.

We continue to work with Ochsner Health to assure that we are going above and beyond to keep our community healthy and safe.  The Senior Leadership Team has been working diligently throughout the spring and summer to assure our health and safety, and our academic plans are both comprehensive and stellar.  Our faculty will return to campus next Monday for training in new health care procedures and for professional development. We are excited about the start of school and are looking forward to seeing you all!

Enjoy the remaining days of summer!
