COVID-19 School Information & Messages

July 1, 3 p.m.

Dear StM Community,

St. Martin’s is committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for our students, faculty, and staff. Our goal is to keep your children as well as our community healthy while reintegrating into our daily routines.

With the guidance from Ochsner Health professionals, the CDC, and local and national health and safety guidelines, St. Martin’s has created the necessary protocols to ensure that we have the processes and procedures in place to provide a safe campus as we welcome students back on August 12, and to control the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Our administration remains hard at work, seeking to assure the health and safety of our community as well as to honor our commitment to providing an excellent academic program for all of our students throughout the school year.

The policies in this manual are to be considered as guidelines. These policies will be updated and adapted as changes become necessary. The manual will be posted on the school’s website and can be found on the COVID-19 page.

There will be a separate communication in the coming weeks with details involving the school’s academic plan with regards to on- and off-campus learning. We have made adjustments to the academic day to begin school at 7:55 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Our desire and expectation is to have everyone on campus throughout the school year. However, we know we must be prepared for the possibility of a temporary government closure, and we must be prepared to support students who may have to remain home should they or a member of their household contract COVID-19.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to provide another successful school year. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me or our school nurse, Eileen Smilari, at eileen.smilari@stmsaints.com.

Together we are Saints,

Merry Sorrells
Head of School
