COVID-19 School Information & Messages

April 21, 3 p.m.

St. Martin’s is committed to you and your family. And we will be with you every step of the way during these incredibly difficult times. We appreciate your grace, support, and understanding as we continue to navigate these extreme circumstances together.

The safety and well-being of our community remain our top priority. Governor John Bel Edwards has closed all K-12 public schools statewide for the remainder of this academic year. While we know how hard this is for you and for our students, and we share in your disappointment, we believe it is necessary to continue to keep our campus closed for the remainder of the school year as well. This difficult decision was reached after much thought and prayer.

The St. Martin’s Continuity of Learning Plan (distance/online learning) will remain in place. Our dedicated faculty will continue to plan, create, and deliver the highest-quality learning experience possible for your child, and your family will continue to have the full support of your division head, student support services team, technology department, and staff.

We realize there are numerous important traditions and events that take place during the spring, especially for our seniors. It is our hope to postpone as many as we can and commemorate those that are more time-sensitive in special ways. We will have more details about commencement and recognition ceremonies soon.

We recognize that many families may be experiencing financial challenges, and we are committed to doing everything possible to be of assistance. Because your tuition dollars continue to be used to support all school and campus operations it is critical that you honor your tuition commitment for the 2019-2020 school year and that all payments are complete.

Now, more than ever, we must continue supporting and caring for one another; we have identified several ways St. Martin’s can help.
  • Meal/Break Plan and After Care Credits: For the period that campus is closed, we will provide a prorated credit for the meal plan, break plan, and after care programs toward any current outstanding balance for the 2019-20 school year.If your account is already paid in full, these credits will be applied to your family’s school account for the 2020-21 school year.

  • Beyond the Bell Refunds: Refunds have been distributed to families for all classes canceled due to the closure. If you have not received a refund, please contact Cathy Lesher at cathy.lesher@stmsaints.com. Please contact outside companies such as Soccer Shots and Teddy Tennis directly to inquire about their individual return policies.

  • Flexible Payment Plans: Our goal is to retain all of our families, faculty, and staff and we believe we can do that by carefully managing the school’s fiscal responsibilities while remaining flexible with our families. All families who have experienced hardship are encouraged to contact the Business Office to discuss alternative payment options.

It is crucial to continue to do our part in stopping the spread of the virus while remaining dedicated to our mission and each other. Please do not hesitate to contact your division head, the business office, or anyone at school if you need our assistance.

Together we are Saints.

Sincerely,

Merry Sorrells
