SPANISH IMMERSION CAMP May 31 - June 4 Morning session 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. for grades Kindergarten - 2 Afternoon session 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. for grades 3 - 5 Come and have fun with us! We will be learning about the culture through hands-on projects. Instruction will be primarily in Spanish. Join us for a week of games, singing, learning and lots of fun! Register early! Class size limited to no more than 8 students per session • Cost: $165 Chess Camp August 2 - August 6 Morning session: 9 a.m. - noon • Cost: $250 by June 19, 2010; $275 thereafter Afternoon session: 1 - 4 p.m. • Cost: $250 by June 19, 2010; $275 thereafter All Day: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. • Cost: $400 by June 19, 2010; $425 thereafter 1/2 Chess & 1/2 day Any Computer Camp 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. • Cost: $430 by June 19, 2010; $455 thereafter This summer USA Chess is offering a fun and entertaining chess camp at St. Martin’s Episcopal School. Children ages 5 - 16, from beginner to advanced are all welcome! USA Chess is the largest and premier chess camp organizer for children in the United States. Their staff is comprised of the finest children’s chess instructors in North America. Registration options include mornings, afternoon and all-day sessions. Campers experience chess instruction and play in a fun filled environment designed to improve their skills whether they are interested in casual or competitive chess. Video Game Creation Camp August 2 - August 6 Morning session: 9 a.m. - noon • Cost: $280 by June 19, 2010; $305 thereafter Afternoon session: 1 - 4 p.m. • Cost: $280 by June 19, 2010; $305 thereafter All Day: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. • Cost: $430 by June 19, 2010; $455 thereafter 1/2 Chess & 1/2 day Any Computer Camp 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. • Cost: $430 by June 19, 2010; $455 thereafter Any two 1/2 day Computer Camps 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. • Cost: $455 by June 19, 2010 $455 thereafter Starting with basic commands, campers ages 8 - 15 will be taught, in a step-by-step progression how to build a game that they design. Camp begins with an introduction to Game Maker software including adding rooms, building walls, adding backgrounds, warping to new levels, music, sound effects and many other great techniques. The first few days focus on the basics, thru teaching the basics of the software. Later in the week the children are well on their way to creating their own unique game. At the end of camp the camp the children receive a copy of their games and each has their own software license. From there they can continue to play and develop his or her game. They also have the tools and knowledge necessary to create new ones as well. Finally, each child will be given a t-shirt, trophy and a certificate of accomplishment with a group photo. Campers will select from a gallery of animated characters called sprites. They will teach them to walk, run, dance, turn around and respond to keyboard input. Students will learn to change backgrounds, add music, play catch, and other cool features. Throughout this course, they learn basic programming skills, while broadening their imagination and creativity. After the completion of camp, participants can install the software and story from our custom download site for further development or to simply show off.
