Dear Friends, St. Martin’s has been an integral part of the Gibbs family for more than 22 years. Three of our children have graduated from St. Martin’s (Lauren ’03, Hillary ’05 and Gillian ’07), so we understand and appreciate how important alumni are to the school. With our Prudence now in the third grade, our close association with St. Martin’s will continue for considerably longer. Our children have benefitted from the rigorous academic standards, the competent and caring professional teachers, coaches and staff, the faith-based character building philosophy, the beautiful campus, and the close association and friendships with other highly motivated and successful fellow students. We are fully committed to St. Martin’s. We collectively and individually have a strong sense of gratitude to St. Martin’s for all it has done for our children and for thousands of other children throughout the years. For these reasons and with great optimism for St. Martin’s future, we have agreed to chair the 2011-2012 Annual Giving Campaign. St. Martin’s, like many independent schools across the country, conducts an annual giving drive to help fund the difference between the tuition revenue and the actual cost to educate each individual student. The Annual Giving Campaign funds critical parts of the school budget, including professional development for our teachers, curriculum advancements, small class sizes, faith and service programs, technology in every classroom, financial aid for well qualified students, equipment for arts and athletic programs, and maintenance of our beautiful 18-acre campus. We cannot imagine a more worthy cause than the 560 students at St. Martin’s, and we ask you to join us in supporting them by donating to the Annual Giving Campaign. The tuition alone does not cover the cost of providing an excellent St. Martin’s education to each student. In fact, this year there is a $1,684 gap per student between the tuition and the cost of a St. Martin’s education. Our goal for this annual giving drive is to raise at least $375,000. Most importantly, our goal is to have the support of all our alumni. Already, we are pleased to report 100% participation by the Board of Trustees and 98% participation by St. Martin’s faculty and staff. We ask that you support St. Martin’s with a gift of whatever amount is comfortable for you; it is your participation that counts. In keeping with the tradition started by the Coatney family, we are issuing a special fundraising challenge. If you donate at least $100 more than last year, we will contribute $100 toward Annual Giving; if you are a new donor to Annual Giving and your gift is at least $100, we will likewise contribute $100. We hope that you will accept this challenge and make a handsome contribution to ensure that St. Martin’s continues to provide the best educational and growth opportunities for our children as it did for you. At whatever level you can give, St. Martin’s is grateful. Our primary goal is the participation of 100% of the St. Martin’s community. In keeping with the St. Martin’s tradition, everyone giving at or above the Founders level ($1,200) will receive this year’s building collection piece, which is the Ken G. Martin Family Library; those who give at or above the Fellows level of $3,000 will receive the library collectible as well as a set of four etched “M” highball glasses. On behalf of the students and faculty at St. Martin’s, we thank you in advance for your generous tax deductible support. The pledge envelope is enclosed for your convenience. St. Martin’s can easily set up monthly or quarterly payments on your Visa or MasterCard, and pledges are payable through June 30, 2012. You can also easily and securely donate online, at www.stmsaints.com/ag, with your American Express, Visa, or MasterCard. If you have any questions and concerns, or would just like to talk about the Annual Giving Campaign, please feel free to call us at any time. Go Saints, Lawrence C. Gibbs Marian M. Gibbs
