Middle School News All students in grades 6th, 7th and 8th are all required to have a school approved tablet. Students entering 6th grade for the 2011- 2012 school year will be using school owned technology. Also, any student entering 7th - 8th grade as a new student will also be using school owned technology. The tablet technology is being utilized by the teachers in the middle school grades for student learning, facilitating the need for students to have this technology. There is also a $150.00 Technology Fee charged to all students. With technology so rapidly changing and so many computer/devices vying for placement in schools I feel it is in everyone's best interest to wait a year. We will be better able to make an informed decision about the type of technology to use and require in Middle School. Upper School News All 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students Beginning Monday 4/11/2011 all students in grades 9th - 12th will be allowed to bring their own technology* to STM. Their devices will have access to our network, the internet and a dedicated printer. These machines will be part of the Guest VLAN. We’ll offer very limited support for these devices and they will not qualify for the loaner program. All software needed will be the responsibility of the student to obtain. *At this time the technology we are referring to excludes: cell phones and IPods(MP3 players), since the main function of these devices is not school related. We will be allowing any make or model of computer as well as companion devices. –Companion devices are defined as: easy-to-use Internet devices, that are neither computers nor phones (ex. IPAD).
