St. Martin's Episcopal School Chapel

The St. Martin's Chapel may now be used for weddings, baptisms or funerals. This new policy has been set and approved by the Bishop of the Diocese of Louisiana, and such services will take place with canonical accountability.
Preparations for these events will take place through the parish church, St. Martin's Episcopal
Church.

With faith at the cornerstone of our school motto, we are intentionally noting the importance of faith in becoming a well-rounded individual. Having meaningful chapel services is vital, and we actively seekstudent involvement such as student cantors and preachers in Upper School Chapel. First through eighth grade celebrates Eucharist together, which helps to broaden our sense of community. Lower School continues to have students joyful to serve as acolytes, have birthday blessings and in fifth grade, having an opportunity to assist in Chapel preparation and to read during the year.

Seeking “sacred space” is another way to help our students to develop their own sense of peace. Though sacred space can be anywhere, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Luke 18:20), we also recognize that finding a special place for prayer and reflection grants one the opportunity more easily. With this need for a special place in mind, we undertook our Chapel renovations. If you haven’t had an opportunity to see the Chapel, please stop by--it has completely changed the ambiance of the space. As we progress, we grow increasingly excited about the Chapel being a place of beauty and believe the students have benefited. Just as our students grow physically, we want their faith of God and community to grow and become a part of their very beings.

My Favorite Thing About St. Martin's

"My favorite thing about St. Martin's would have to be the teachers and how nice they are to us. They make learning fun and we are always happy to come into their classrooms."
Tia Schlesinger, 7th grade student
