About Martin de Tours

The Martin de Tours award, St. Martin’s highest alumni honor, is named for the patron saint of the school, Martin of Tours, who exemplified the aspect of service that we value so highly at St. Martin's Episcopal School.

St. Martin’s Episcopal School will present the fifteenth Martin de Tours Award to Anthony “Tony” Cabrales ’54, on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Upper School. Assembly in the Solomon Theater. Mr. Cabrales will also be honored at a private reception the evening prior to the award ceremony.

Mr. Cabrales is currently serving his second term as President of the Foundation for Economic and Social Development “FUSADES”, a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to promoting the social and economic development of his native country, El Salvador.  He was a founding member of FUSADES and has worked tirelessly for the past 25 years for his country.  He also served, at the invitation of the President of El Salvador, as the Minister of Agriculture from 1989-1994.  Jimmy Gundlach ‘54, 2000 Martin de Tours recipient and classmate of Tony’s testifies, “The Martin de Tours Award recognizes extraordinary service by alumni to their fellow man, and no one has given more of themselves than Tony.  I hope that by receiving this award, more people in the States will recognize and know of Tony’s contributions to the betterment of El Salvador.”

"My favorite thing about St. Martin's is playing middle school football. The coaches make it fun, and I love being a Saint!"
