 Dorothy Porter Service Award

Wally Porter '76 named 2008 Dorothy Porter Service Award Recipient

The Dorothy Porter Service Award Committee announced Wally Porter '76 as the 2008 Dorothy Porter Service Award recipient. This prestigious award, presented each year at the Spirits Party since 2002, honors an exemplary St. Martin's citizen who has consistently served the school with time, talent and treasures. The award's recipient must reflect the ideals of St. Martin's and represent our motto of Faith, Scholarship, Service.

Wally’s commitment to St. Martin’s is extraordinary, and no one is more deserving of the Dorothy Porter Service Award. A graduate of the Class of 1976, Wally has long served as Class Agent.  But it is in recording the hundreds of events each year in photographs that Wally’s dedication shines through. From Homecoming in the fall through Commencement in May, Wally is on campus many days each week. His beautiful photographs of special events, dedications, fundraisers, award ceremonies, reunions and alumni events are treasured by everyone at St. Martin’s.  St. Martin’s is grateful to Wally Porter for all that he gives to our school.

Previous award recipients include Mrs. Porter herself; Jim Marsalis '62, Belle Johnson, Rev. Gedge Gayle,  Eileen Beckman, and Bill Rosenbaum.

"My favorite thing about St. Martin's is playing middle school football. The coaches make it fun, and I love being a Saint!"
